Greetings! My name is Ms. Lan Hoang, and I support K–8 students in reading, math, writing, and core academic skills. I currently work as a Substitute Teacher in Hillsborough County, where I adapt lessons across grade levels and learning styles to keep students engaged, focused, and confident.
I love helping students see that they can do this even when reading or writing feels hard at first. My goal is to make learning feel doable, encouraging, and even enjoyable, one step at a time.
I bring over 20 years of experience supporting students and educational programs. At Georgetown University, I served as a Program Manager, training, mentoring, and supporting more than 100 student employees in a structured, high-accountability setting.
I am also a Doctoral student at The George Washington University, and my graduate training helps me break down complex material, scaffold learning, and teach with clarity and care. I also earned a Master of Science in Management and Executive Leadership from Johns Hopkins University, which strengthens my ability to stay organized, set clear goals, and support students with consistency and follow-through.
As a tutor, I use a patient, structured approach. I strengthen reading comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency, and I help students organize ideas, improve sentence structure, and express themselves clearly in writing. I build skills while also building confidence—because students do their best learning when they feel supported and understood.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy gardening and tending to my fish tanks, which reflect the same patience, care, and consistency I bring to my work with students. I am also fluent in both English and Vietnamese, which allows me to connect with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
I value partnership with families. I share progress updates, celebrate growth, and offer practical strategies families can use at home to reinforce learning between sessions.
I tutor in Plant City, Brandon, Tampa, Dover, and Lithia.
